Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Will Likely Play For U-23s This Week

The midfielder’s long awaited return from injury is coming soon

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin has missed the last 11 months due to a knee injury he suffered in April of last year. The dynamic midfielder is set to make the final step before returning to the first team by playing with the u23s this week. If you’ve followed Oxlade-Chamberlin’s recovery on social media, you know how much this means to him. Earlier this week Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp spoke of Oxlade-Chamberlin’s return to the media.

“Ox is doing 70% of team training.” Klopp said, “He trains fully but not as much as the others. Then he leaves a bit early to do something else and the things he needs.”

“Everyone is always looking for a reaction but nothing has happened yet. We have to prepare him for his entire career, not just one particular game. When he’s in training it looks very nice.”

Klopp finished with a cute response, “we will wait for Alex like a good wife when a man is in prison”.

Ox’s return will surely give Liverpool a boost for the run in. It’s said that Liverpool will make a game-time decision whether to include Oxlade-Chamberlin in the u23 team that faces off against Everton’s u23s on Monday night.
