Phil Neville considers Liverpool to be ‘serious title contenders’

Former Manchester United defender Phil Neville considers Liverpool to be “serious title contenders” after the Reds have made an impress start to the 2018-19 campaign.
Liverpool are three points clear at the top of the table having defeated Cardiff City 4-1 yesterday at Anfield, and Neville is convinced the Reds have all the ingredients to run Manchester City all the way.
“They have started the season really well,” Neville said on Match of the Day after Liverpool defeated Cardiff.
“At the start of last season they dropped points to teams like Cardiff but I think what has happened is they’ve bought well over the summer.
“Last year I think squad depth cost them but Jurgen Klopp has sorted that out and brought players in.

“It’s games like this where you use your squad and bring players in and he’s shown that he trusts them.
“I think when you’ve got a squad like Liverpool, particularly in the way that they play, you’ve got to put the squad players in and trust them.
“I think Liverpool are at the point now where you are thinking they are serious title contenders.
“They play fast, open, attacking football and they’ve got the squad to deal with the amount of games that they play.”
