Liverpool ranked as third best club in the world

Liverpool are now the third best team in the world, according to statistics website FiveThirtyEight (via the Echo).
Jurgen Klopp’s side now rank ahead of giants Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid following their superb Champions League final win last month.
The Reds beat Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid to lift the European Cup for the sixth time in their history.

And the Merseyside team’s ongoing progress under FSG and Klopp has lifted them to third in FiveThirtyEight’s rankings, who researchers created a Soccer Power Index (SPI) to work out a club’s offensive and defensive ratings.
These ratings are then combined to produce an average score, after which the team is ranked by how likely they would be to beat another side on a neutral playing ground.
Manchester City and Bayern Munich come in ahead of Liverpool in first and second place, with Barcelona tailing the Reds in fourth.
Manchester United, meanwhile, dropped to 34th place in the rankings.
