Jürgen Klopp: Mohamed Salah Will Be Fresh After a Restful International Break

The Liverpool manager is sure that Salah will have benefited from a break in international action.

All Jürgen Klopp’s players are officially back in full training as of today following the international break. Roberto Firmon and Allison were the last to arrive back in Liverpool and the manager was happy to share that everyone miraculously returned injury-free.

“I think it’s the first time that pretty much everybody came back healthy,” said Klopp.

While his world-class friends were off playing with their national teams, Mohamed Salah was left behind to reap the benefits of having a break in competition. Egypt did not call on Salah to perform and Klopp will pleased that his star forward enjoyed a short reprieve in action.

“100 percent, of course. He’ll gain freshness in that period, that's clear,” Klopp said, before reminding us of the demanding daily schedule of a footballer, “The boys never have a day off, they always train.”

Salah would have taken part in light training at Melwood during the two-week break. A hand-full of players would still have been kicking around the training facilities and honing their skills in the lull.

“It’s not the highest intensity but that helps for different reasons. Not only for Mo, for the others who were not involved in international duty.”

Klopp is hoping that the down time will have reinvigorated Salah ahead of the run-in, where it will take an impressive fight to get passed Manchester City. The Egyptian will return to action on Sunday and we’ll have the chance to see the results of Salah’s new freshness against Tottenham Hotspur and fellow top-scorer contender Harry Kane.
