Liverpool attacking pair equal Rush-Dalglish record

Two of Liverpool’s lethal attacking trio have equaled a long-standing record previously held by Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush.

Sadio Mane scored against Fulham on Sunday to notch 20 goals for the season so far, drawing level with Mohamed Salah on the same figure.

That achievement now means that the pair are the first two Liverpool players to reach 20 or more goals in successive seasons for the Reds in 36 years.

In the previous campaign, Salah bagged an astonishing 44 goals while Mane reached 20 in what was an electric season for the pair.

And they’ve continued in that vein, emulating Dalglish and Rush, who last hit 20 or more goals in the 1981/82 and 1982/83 seasons at Anfield.

Only Roger Hunt and Ian St John ever achieved 20 or more goals in three successive campaigns under Bill Shankly in 1961/62, 1962/63 and 1963/64.
