Klopp Talk: We Have to Create the Power of Anfield

The boss knows what it will take.

Liverpool vs Chelsea. A title on the line. If you’re like Jürgen Klopp, you can’t wait for such a challenge.

Alternatively, if you’re like me, you feel sick just thinking about it.

Anyway, hopefully you’re like Klopp, because boy is he ready, and boy is he relying on you.

“We have to create the power of Anfield and use the power of Anfield again”, the Liverpool manager told Sky Sports. “I am so happy with our crowd and how they deal with everything in the last month and maybe year since I’ve been in.

“It’s a strong opponent and we need all our resources to win it.”

Speaking of the opposition, Klopp added that “Chelsea is in a really good moment. We’ve had two opportunities to watch them during the week on Monday and on Thursday in Prague. They are in a good moment and that’s the truth.

”They can make seven changes between the two games and still win the games. [Eden] Hazard is in very good shape and it’s a big game for us. It’s not an easy one, we know that.”

Klopp has been striking this kind of tone for a while now. In another interview before this game, he went on to rally the Anfield crowd very specifically, stating that “We need it like it was in the Tottenham game. That is why I said it was so special against Tottenham”.

The style of football the German has this Liverpool side playing is all about intensity and aggression. While other approaches might not need such things due to an emphasis on, say, concentration, Klopp’s football specifically needs the energy of the crowd to reflect back upon the players.

It’s all on the line today at Anfield. Win and we’re in with the best chance in decades of a league title. Lose and, well, the other thing. Let’s go.
