Liverpool 5, Huddersfield 0: Man of the Match

Siri, bring me a photo that defines “joy.”

With a comprehensive win over Huddersfield in the books, we want you to rate Liverpool’s players and choose your man of the match.

Liverpool needed a win to keep pace with Manchester City and they did just that. It was, in the end, a rather easy win, perhaps portended by The Admiral Naby Keita’s incredible early goal. Just 15 seconds into the match, that opening salvo really put Huddersfield in the unenviable position of chasing goals against this vaunted Liverpool squad.

They were, of course, unable to close that gap with prime performances to find all across the pitch. Each of Keita, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane earned goals. Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold nabbed assists. Jordan Henderson marshaled the midfield and looked threatening - if not quite on the mark - playing in more of an 8 role. Virgil Van Dijk, Alisson Becker and the defense did enough to secure another clean sheet. Comprehensive.

All told, that’s all that Liverpool needed. The title race is still on.

Now let us know how you saw it. With our usual polling tool out of service, we’re instead giving you a choice between a few of the players we thought looked best today for the Reds, so make your choice below and vote for who you think should be the man of the match—or take to the comments to let us know that we got it wrong by leaving the real man of the match off the list entirely.

And as always, anyone visiting on Apple News or Google AMP who wish to vote and can’t see the poll can make it visible by navigating to the front page of The Liverpool Offside and re-entering the story.
