Everything’s the Best: Keep On Truckin’

Liverpool are just past the halfway point on their most difficult stretch of matches yet. And things look pretty, pretty good.

Liverpool’s objectives this season seemed pretty straightforward: qualify for the Champions League and advance as far as possible in all of the other competitions that the club would find itself in this season. Which is to say that the broad line most reasonable fans might draw for the team is to show signs of building upon the strong foundation that Jurgen Klopp left behind.

The anxiety headed into the season, at least from folks like me, was always going to be centered on how the club would respond to a reality without the legendary coach manning the sidelines. Klopp cuts such a big figure that it really was hard to imagine what life without him could look like. The answer, thankfully, looks like it is at the very least a lot more of something similar.

Arne Slot has managed to maintain his undefeated record on the road while paying visits to RB Leipzig, Brighton, and pre-season title challengers Arsenal. He’s also managed to pull a win out of their tilt against a seemingly reinvigorated Chelsea squad. It has not been an easy stretch of matches.

While there still looms tilts in the league against Brighton and Aston Villa, it’s hard not to start to want to believe in this squad. Heck, the team pulled Arsenal back twice to earn the point. And that mid-week win against Brighton helped to secure advancement in the League Cup.

Whatever comes next, it’s safe to say that Liverpool are definitely a squad that commands respect from the tacticians across the league. There’s no easy match here, and on our day - which was looked to be pretty often lately - the Reds look well-equipped to take on any club in the world and give them a run for the money.
