Liverpool in “advance talks” with Nike over new record kit deal

Liverpool are in “advanced talks” with Nike over a new long-term kit deal, according to the Echo.

The Reds’ current deal with New Balance is worth £45million a year, and is set to expire at the end of next season.

However, with Jurgen Klopp’s side performing impressively at home and in Europe, the club are looking for a kit deal to match their current status among the elite teams in the world.

The Reds made a record-breaking £125million pre-tax profit after reaching the Champions League final last season, and are close to reaching that same stage again this year.

And it has now been revealed that the club are in talks with Nike over a new deal that is “expected to exceed the value of Manchester United’s £750million agreement with Adidas and become the biggest ever struck by a Premier League club” (ESPN).

New Balance have a clause in their contract with Liverpool which would allow them to match any deal put forward by another brand, but it is unlikely they could match Nike’s offer.

Liverpool are also listening to offers from Adidas and Puma.
