Harry Kane Declares Himself Fit to Face Liverpool in Champions League Final

The Tottenham striker says he’s ready to go, even if his manager isn’t quite as bullish.

In just five days, Liverpool will face Tottenham in the Champions League final, with both clubs desperate to take the chance to win the trophy that would prove they really do belong amongst Europe’s elite.

And today, in a major if not entirely surprising boost to Liverpool’s opponents, striker Harry Kane has said that not only will he play on Saturday, but that even if the game were today he’d be ready to go.

“Yes, I feel good,” he said when asked if he feels ready to play again. “I’ve been in full training, doing everything. I’m at a place now where I’m ready to go for any game. I feel good and ready.”

Good and ready, though, may not mean match fit, and manager Mauricio Pochettino isn’t quite ready to pencil Kane in to start—or even make the bench. And even if he plays, Spurs have other injury concerns.

“The situation is very positive,” was as far as Pochettino would go. “It’s important that he feels well and he’s very positive. We’ll see what happens. I cannot say he’ll be fit or starting or on the bench or out.”

Pochettino went on to admit that Harry Winks, Jan Vertonghen, and Davinson Sanchez were unlikely to be able to play a role on Saturday. However, Dele Alli and Danny Rose, like Kane, seem likely to feature.
