Liverpool-linked James Rodriguez available this summer

Bayern Munich will not exercise their option to buy James Rodriguez this summer, according to the Mirror.

The German giants can buy the Colombian from his parent club Real Madrid for £37million after he spent the last two seasons in the Bundesliga.

However, Bayern will not sign the midfielder on a permanent basis, leaving him open to a move away from both Germany and Spain this summer.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge refuted claims that his side would buy Rodriguez just to sell him on for profit.

“That’s not the style of Bayern,” Rummenigge said. “We don’t want to do human trafficking, to push something elsewhere to make some money. FC Bayern has never been that way.

“We will surely come together next week and we will decide what to do. We must put all options on the table and decide how to handle all those things that aren’t certain yet.”

The 27-year-old has 15 goals and 20 assists in 67 appearances for Bayern, and has been linked with a move to Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.

And with Bayern not interested in retaining him, Rodriguez will be available this summer to find a new club.
