Liverpool linked with move for £77million La Liga winger

Liverpool could potentially be one of two Premier League clubs prepared to activate the €88million release clause for Athletic Bilbao forward Iñaki Williams.

ESPN FC report Atletico Madrid are interested in Williams but are unwilling to meet the £77million asking price.

And it now appears that two clubs in England’s top flight are keen on the 24-year-old, who can play on the wing or up front.

Liverpool have been linked with Williams for a while and will need to strengthen their attacking options with Daniel Sturridge set to leave next month once his contract expires.

Williams would be the ideal replacement – he bagged 15 goals last season for Bilbao, helping them to an 8th-place finish in La Liga.

The player is under contract until 2025, though any club can enter negotiations for him if his release clause is activated.
