Rumour Mongering: RB Leipzig CEO Drops Timo Werner Hint

It’s almost certainly a bargaining tactic from Oliver Mintzlaff.
Timo Werner, the German international, has one more year on his contract with Bundesliga team RB Leipzig and has refused to sign a new contract with the club. Speculation abounds that the 23-year-old will end up with the German giants Bayern Munich come September, but in the mean time, RB Leipzig CEO, Oliver Mintzlaff, is keeping options open, name-dropping Liverpool as a possible destination for the striker.
“The situation is still the same. Timo Werner would rather not sign an extension,” he insisted. “But that could change. I don’t think it’s completely out of the question that he could extend his deal. We haven’t talked to Bayern Munich about Timo Werner yet.
“Maybe he doesn’t even want to go to Munich. Maybe he would rather join Tuchel in Paris, Klopp at Liverpool or Favre at Dortmund.”
It doesn’t take much to see through this transparent attempt to entice Bayern Munich into a lucrative bid for the player. Mintzlaff isn’t even trying to hide the hustle here.
But Werner is linked with Liverpool in transfer window after transfer window and will continue to until the player finds his new home this summer. The young, talented striker would make a good addition to Klopp’s attacking options, but right now it seems unlikely that he will be leaving Germany this summer.
