Klopp wants Liverpool to prioritise signing of Mattijs de Ligt

Jurgen Klopp has asked Michael Edwards to prioritise the signing of Mattijs de Ligt this summer, according to BILD.

The Ajax captain has enjoyed a superb season, helping his club reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, where they were knocked out by finalists Tottenham

And while Barcelona remain favourites to sign the 19-year-old centre-back, German media are reporting that Liverpool have now thrown their hat back in the ring.

Ajax want at least £75million for their captain, a figure that Barcelona were apparently willing to part with to secure his services.

Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also interested in signing him, but BILD say that Liverpool are now frontrunners again.

Should Michael Edwards pull off another stunning transfer swoop this summer and secure De Ligt, Liverpool would have the most expensive centre-back pairing in the world.
