Robertson on Alisson: He’s The Man

Andy Robertson seems quite fond of goalkeeper Alisson.

You like Alisson Becker. I like Alisson Becker. Every Reds fan likes Liverpool’s stalwart and steady man between the sticks. He has helped revitalize a defense that was sorely lacking in recent seasons.

Andy Robertson, it turns out, is pretty fond of the Brazilian keeper as well.

“He’s the man, isn’t he?” he said. “He’s the man.

”A lot was said about Ali when he first came, a lot of pressure on him. My God, he’s been unbelievable this season. [Against Spurs], it was an absolute joke the way he made the saves and everything. He was different class. It’s down to him that we kept a clean sheet.”

If it was a joke, only Liverpool fans are laughing. Alisson has managed to keep 21 clean sheets in his first season in the Premier League. His fearlessness and football acumen has pulled Liverpool out of several perilous situations like season and is a large part of how the team even ended up in the Champions League final to begin with.

Coming to a new league and with such high expectations put on him and carrying such a high price tag could have been a noose around his neck. Instead, Alisson seemed to immediately embrace the pressure, and by the end of the fall, talk about how much it cost to pry him away from AS Roma was a thing of the past.

The future is bright for the six time champions of Europe. With a debut season like the one Alisson had, we’re all desperate to see what he’ll do next season.
