Salah scores stunning free kick for Egypt in final group stage win

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah scored a sumptuous free kick for Egypt as he helped his side to a 2-0 win against Uganda.

The Pharaohs progressed from Group A of the Africa Cup of Nations with an unbeaten record thanks to a moment of magic from Salah, which was followed by another striker from Aston Villa’s Ahmed Elmohamady.

Uganda were no pushovers, however, with Sebastien Desabre’s side pressing the hosts hard throughout the match yesterday at the Cairo International Stadium.

Salah’s 36th-minute goal came after Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy made several crucial stops to deny Uganda an opener in the match.

Elmohamady’s goal came late in the first half to seal the win for his side, who finish their group games without conceding a goal.

Uganda finished second in the group and also progress to the last 16.
