Andy Robertson Is Ready For More Trophies In Istanbul And Beyond

Robertson believes Liverpool are set up for more magic in Istanbul, as well as sustained success both domestically and in Europe
Liverpool’s season has just begun, but they are already playing for a European trophy this Wednesday. Andy Robertson feels the team are primed and ready for the UEFA Super Cup where they’ll take on last season’s Europa League winners, Chelsea, in Istanbul.
“It’ll be an interesting game but we look forward to it and, of course, it’s another chance to hopefully get our hands on some silverware” said the charismatic left back. “For this one, we’re there on merit and we won the Champions League to get there.”
The Super Cup is a nice recognition of Liverpool’s success in Europe last season. For Robertson, however, there is no resting on his laurels of the past. He’s hungry for more than just tea biscuits.
“We don’t want to just stop at the Champions League, that’s all we’ve won as a group of players” said the all-action Scot. “It’s the start of what’s going to be a busy campaign for us. Our ambitions are to go to the very end this season and that means we’ll have more finals.”
According to Robertson, he and the team are mentally preparing for a busy year.
“We look to compete on all fronts this season and we need to hopefully do that. The domestic cups we need to be better in, in the Premier League we need to make the next step and in the Champions League we need to keep doing what we’re doing.”
The six-time champions of Europe will have their work cut out for them, however. As we’ve seen this preseason, Liverpool have targets firmly affixed on their backs.
“It’ll be an interesting season and one that will hopefully bring success to this club again.”
Here’s hoping you’re right, Andy!
