Naby Keïta Suffers Training Injury Ahead of Super Cup

The Liverpool midfielder limped out of an open training session with a suspected thigh issue.
Hopes were high for Naby Keïta heading into his first year with Liverpool as the Guinean midfielder arrived from RB Leipzig a full season after Liverpool agreed a delayed £54M deal to bring him into the fold.
Injuries, though, slowed his adjustment to a new league and club. Come year two, though, surely Keïta—who had avoided any major injury layoffs while in Germany—would be ready to take the next step with the club.
So far, that hasn’t quite gone to plan, and again it’s injuries holding him back, first delaying his pre-season return and now seeing 24-year-old limping off from a training session with a suspected thigh injury.
Keïta reportedly headed straight down the tunnel with Liverpool’s medical staff, and if as believed it’s the same thigh he injured against Barcelona and that forced him to miss the end of last season, it’s worrying.
It also won’t do anything to curb a belief that Guinea and manager Paul Put rushed Keïta back from the initial injury over the summer—and fears that doing so may end up creating long-term issues for the player.
