RB Leipzig value Timo Werner at €40million, according to Bild, and Bayern Munich are apparently unwilling to meet their asking price.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Liverpool for a few years now and many supporters view him as the ideal backup to Roberto Firmino.

Liverpool looked toothless when the Brazilian was given a rest against Chelsea in the Super Cup this week but Jurgen Klopp was forced to bring him off the bench to beat the Blues.

While the Premier League transfer window is closed, denying Klopp and Michael Edwards the chance to make any plays in the market, they can act swiftly to agree a deal similar to the one which saw Naby Keita join the club for £52.5m (€57.4m).

The Reds should look to agree a deal with Leipzig which would seem them receive a premium in order to sign Werner in January or at the end of the season when his contract with the Bundesliga side expires.

Werner was directly involved in 23 league goals last term and would be the ideal backup to Firmino.
