Rumour Mongering: Rangers Could Sign Kent on Permanent Deal

Ryan Kent’s price may have dropped enough for Rangers to consider him a viable transfer target.
Rangers made no secret of their interest in Ryan Kent earlier in the summer, with the Scottish club eager to take the 22-year-old winger on loan for another season. Liverpool, though, saw things differently.
Given his age and that he wasn’t seen as a having a future at Anfield, Jürgen Klopp and the Reds prioritized a permanent move, with Leeds United for a time expected to sign him only for the deal to fall through.
Now, he’s at Anfield with the transfer window shut for Premier League and Championship sides and with few options—and in the meantime, Rangers have made signings for players that fill the role he would have.
It means that, according to a report by Glasgow’s Evening Times, even if Liverpool were no to decide to loan him, Rangers don’t have the same interest in taking Kent back on loan that they did earlier in the summer.
However, Steven Gerrard continues to rate the young winger, and with Liverpool seemingly stuck with a player who has no future at Anfield, his price may have dropped to the point Rangers could afford a permanent transfer.
And that might just get them interested again, which would make for a rather surprising end to the summer. Meanwhile, Kent was left off the U23 squad yesterday, fuelling speculation he could be on the move.
