Pep Guardiola Jokingly Concedes Premier League Title To Liverpool

Liverpool have a 5 point lead in the table over Manchester City, but there is a long, long way to go before the title is crowned
Liverpool continued their extremely hot start to the season on Saturday, while Manchester City dropped points for the second time this season. After a 3-2 loss to Norwich City, the Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, jokingly said that Liverpool have now won the Premier League title.
“We’re in September, we’re going to do that? Okay, congratulations, Liverpool, you are the champions” stated connoisseur of designer t-shirts and scarves, Pep Guardiola, with more than a hint of sarcasm.
At this early stage, Liverpool have a five point lead at the top of the table. Just last year, however, the Reds saw a seven point lead evaporate as Manchester City reeled off fourteen straight wins to close out the season.
While Liverpool certainly haven’t claimed the crown in these early stages of the season, it is nice to have a cushion in the title race as the teams head into Champions League group stage play. As the fixtures start coming thick and fast, Liverpool and Manchester City’s form and depth will be tested.
Andrew Robertson, the sole left back in the Liverpool first team (gulp), mentioned the congested fixture list coming up.
“August was relaxed in terms of what we’re used to but September is back to the busy schedule,” espoused the garrulous Scot. “So it’s all about recovering, we need to recover properly and we need to be ready to go on Tuesday. September is a busy period – we need to come through it firing and get the results we need.”
