Fabinho promised to lure Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool
When he signed for Liverpool in 2018, Fabinho jokingly promised to lure his former AS Monaco teammate Kylian Mbappe to Anfield.
The Brazilian has endeared himself to the Anfield faithful with his tenacious tackling and priceless ability to protect the Reds’ defence but there is one way he can make himself even more loved by the Kop.
For many supporters, signing Mbappe is seen as the absolute dream but seems somewhat unrealistic given his market value and Liverpool’s wage structure but reason is often ignored when transfer fantasies are conjured.
“Kylian has already said he will remain at PSG for the next season but I will try slowly to convince him to come to Liverpool,” said the defensive midfielder in July 2018.
The Frenchman is worth €200million (£172m), according to Transfermarkt, and has already scored 83 senior goals despite the fact that his 21st birthday is still two months away.
Liverpool might be blessed with three world-class attackers in Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah but signing Kylian Mbappe would ensure the Reds have the future best player in the world in their ranks.
Of course, signing him would require Liverpool to demolish both the club’s and the Premier League’s transfer records but it would certainly be worth it in the long run.
