Jordan Henderson hails 'special' Harvey Elliott

Harvey Elliott made his debut for Liverpool against MK Dons in the League Cup last week and Jordan Henderson has praised the 16-year-old.
The skipper said: “To see Harvey Elliott play as maturely and as confidently as he did, aged just 16, was tremendous. And Caoimhin Kelleher produced a couple of worldie saves to show why he’s so highly thought of.
“In terms of competitive senior debuts for Liverpool I think I’m right in saying there were five on the night: Caoimhin and Harvey, as already mentioned, along with Rhian Brewster, Herbie Kane and Sepp van den Berg.
“We’re delighted for all five of them as making your debut for a club like Liverpool is always special, and to do it with a win was a magnificent effort.“
While Elliott certainly demonstrated impressive skill on the ball and maturity the true mark of his talent is that the senior players on the pitch at Stadium MK trusted him with the ball.
For a 16-year-old to already have his senior peers trust him in tricky situations speaks volumes of what is to come for him as the teenager begins his exciting journey on the road to becoming a regular starter for Liverpool.
The next step is for his debut in the Premier League to arrive but given the size of the Reds’ league ambitions, it will take a while for that chance to arrive.
