The Reds know their next League, aka Carabao, Cup opponent. But not when they’ll play them.

Liverpool know that they will face Aston Villa in the League Cup following today’s quarter-final draw. They just don’t know when they’ll face them given the next round is scheduled to take place while the Reds are in Qatar.

After last night’s victory over Arsenal, Jürgen Klopp insisted that while Liverpool “wanted to win it,” the League Cup would have to work around the club’s current commitments without placing undue stress on his squad.

If that can’t be made to happen, then Liverpool would be forced to withdraw from the competition. In the meantime, the club have simply stated that further details will be given to fans about the cup tie “in due time.”

Elsewhere in today’s draw, Leicester City drew away to Everton, Manchester United will host Colchester, and Manchester City will travel to face Oxford United. Those three games will be played on December 17th or 18th.

On the 18th of December, the Reds will play in their Club World Cup semi-final in Qatar, likely against CONCACAF Champions League winners Monterrey.
