Ancelotti to Klopp: Don’t Worry About the Result

According to the Napoli boss, losing away to Napoli can only mean good things for the Reds

Five-time European Cup winner Carlo Ancelotti knows a good European side when he sees one. And even after last night he considers this Liverpool side to be the best in Europe.

In fact, he thinks the Reds have a good chance to repeat, which was exactly his message to Jurgen Klopp after the match.

“I told him: ‘Don’t you worry, if you lose in Naples, then you end up winning the Champions League!” Ancelotti said in a post match interview.

“It’s always tough against Liverpool, from the first minute to the last. We had to sacrifice ourselves, but without losing our identity. The strategy was to play a complete game.”

And play a complete game they did. On balance, a draw was probably a “fair” result (if such a thing exists in football), but Napoli did just enough in both boxes to tip the scales in their favor.

“We did everything well,” Ancelotti continued. “We have to get used to the different moments of the game. When Liverpool were in control we did well in defending and then took our chances.

”It was a very balanced game. So we did well, because I consider them the best team in Europe.”

Ancelotti, might have 7 (!) European Cups to his name, were it not for Liverpool’s interventions in finals in 1984 and 2005. And yet, he continues to have classy things to say about the club, in victory or defeat.

And of course, we can only hope that his prophesy comes true.
