Brendan Rodgers’ response when asked about challenging Liverpool for the title
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has no problem with his team being left out of the title conversation, despite being the side that is giving Liverpool the most headaches.
The Foxes have shocked many this season. Rodgers’ side are currently second in the Premier League, as they trail the league leaders Liverpool by eight points.
The team that was tipped to keep the pace with Liverpool was Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. The reigning champions are currently 14 points behind the Reds.
Despite Leicester City being the team that is currently the closest to Liverpool, many pundits and fans are not putting them in the title conversation. However, Rodgers has no problem if his side are not considered to be in contention.
“I don’t think anyone expects us to be near the top,” Rodgers said yesterday in his post-match press conference after defeating Aston Villa 4-1.
“After Manchester United won at Manchester City on Saturday, the caption came up about how far City are away from Liverpool.
“We respect that, we get on with our work and keep developing as a team.
“It’s just natural, Man City and Liverpool are both incredible teams.
