Former Red states what Sadio Mane is now worth in the transfer market

Sadio Mane.

Former Red Peter Crouch believes Liverpool forward Sadio Mane is now worth triple the amount that the Anfield club paid for him back in 2016.

Mane made the move from Southampton to Liverpool for a fee of £30 million, and he has gone from strength to strength since.

Mane finished fourth in the 2019 Ballon d’Or, which highlights how good of a player he has become under Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

Mane was terrific in Liverpool’s 2-0 Champions League victory over Salzburg last night. The Senegal international secured an assist against his former employers in a game where the Reds simply could not afford to lose.

The Reds needed to avoid defeat if they wished to participate in the knockout rounds of Europe’s elite competition.

Had Liverpool lost, the club would have been dumped into the Europa League and Salzburg would have progressed to the round of 16. Goals to Naby Keita and Mohamed Salah made sure that was not the case.

Crouch was a pundit for the match, and he decided to predict what Mane is now worth in terms of a transfer fee.

“He’s got a few friends here [at Salzburg]. He’s not the same player he was when he was there,” Crouch told BT Sport.

“We were talking about £30 million being a lot of money, but he’s worth treble that now. It’s incredible his improvement – his finishing, his passing. You know what he’s going to do at times, but you just can’t stop it.”
It is difficult to disagree with Crouch. Not that the Reds would be planning on selling Mane, but if they put the forward up for sale in January, the club would make a huge profit.
He is arguably Liverpool’s most important player alongside centre-back Virgil van Dijk. He rarely misses a game.
