John Barnes sends message to Naby Keita
Former Red John Barnes believes Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita needs to continue his good form in order to gain a regular starting spot in Jurgen Klopp’s XI.
Keita, who arrived at Liverpool from Leipzig in the summer of 2018, has been dealt with a number of injury blows in his short time at the club.
However, it appears the Guinea international is beginning to find his feet, as he has scored in his last two starts for the Reds.
Keita, who cost the Reds £52.75 million, does bring something different to Liverpool’s midfield when he is playing. He has the ability to dribble with the ball at speed, and he also has end product.
Barnes believes that Keita needs to continue playing well in order to make it impossible for Klopp to keep him out of the team.
“Naby Keita didn’t force himself back in,” Barnes told BonusCodeBets.

“It’s not a case of some players playing badly and Naby (Keita) getting back in, he’s got to look at the current set up and have the staff think ‘we’re going to give him an opportunity’ ahead of Oxlade Chamberlain.
“What you want is for a number of players who can perform when they’re called upon like Shaqiri and Origi did, and Wijnaldum, Henderson, Milner all doing fantastic.
“Other than the goalkeeper, Van Dijk and the front three, when everybody is fit no other player can say ‘we are always going to be in the team’.”
The Anfield faithful are yet to see the best of Keita, but if the last couple of weeks are anything to go by, the Reds have a player who could really add something to the midfield in the second half of the season. He just simply needs to stay fit.
As of right now, Keita is off to Qatar with his teammates to feature in the FIFA Club World Cup.
