Liverpool given huge injury boost ahead of FIFA Club World Cup final
Reds centre-back Virgil van Dijk has trained with his teammates ahead of Liverpool’s FIFA Club World Cup final clash against Flamengo.
The Dutchman was spotted at training in Qatar this morning ahead of the final, which takes place on Saturday.
Van Dijk missed the semi-final victory over Monterrey due to illness, which saw Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson play at centre-half. It was the first time the captain had ever played in the heart of the defence during his time at the club.

There have been fears that Van Dijk would be unavailable for the final, but he appears to be fit and healthy, which is obviously a good sign ahead of Saturday.
It is pivotal that Van Dijk plays on Saturday. Joe Gomez and Van Dijk are the only two senior centre-halves in the squad that travelled to Qatar, as injury has hit Liverpool’s defence quite hard this season.
Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Fabinho are all missing. By having the Dutchman on the pitch, it increases Liverpool’s chances of winning dramatically.
