Official: Courtney Sweetman-Kirk Leaves Liverpool Women

The striker has not had her contract renewed by the club.
Liverpool Football Club have confirmed that Courtney Sweetman-Kirk has left Liverpool Women. The striker came from Everton in 2018 and scored 14 goals for the Reds in her time at the club. Her contract was not renewed.
There’s no word yet on where the 29-year-old striker will end up, especially with COVID-19 making transfer evermore complicated.
Liverpool Women’s manager Vicky Jepson said in a statement:
“I’d like to thank Courtney for her last two years at the club.
“Myself and all the backroom staff would like to wish her the very best of luck with the challenges ahead.”
Sweetman-Kirk posted a note to her fans on Twitter following the official website’s posting of the news. The (now former) Liverpool number 9 provided a polite, but terse farewell to the club.

In part, she says, “I appreciate all the support I’ve been given, especially from the fans but it’s time for a change and a new environment that challenges me as a player and as a person.”
I want to say that the club will bring in a suitable replacement up front, but we here at TLO Towers will remain skeptical about FSG’s handling of the women’s side until proven wrong.
