Alisson: “Salah’s Hattrick is a Good Start for Liverpool”
The goalkeeper talks about the season opener and what it’s like playing with the Liverpool Front Three.
There was a moment during the Leeds game, just when the visitors netted their third goal of the game where you could feel the frustration at Anfield and in Liverpool fans everywhere rise to pre-2019 levels. Three goals let in out of 6 shots in total (3 on target) is a pretty bad number to start the season off with. But the Reds came away with three points and plenty of lessons learned, as well as proof (yet again) that our front three are absolutely phenomenal.
When asked about Mo Salah who ended the game with a hat-trick, Alisson had a lot to say:
“He’s hungry, he’s started the season hungry and I’m happy because of this,” the goalkeeper said after the match. “He’s a really important player for us. This gives him confidence and also pushes the other players to work even harder.”
“We have a lot of quality with our front three. Sometimes just one scores but we know that everybody can improve from this game in the defensive phase and in attack. It’s a good start for us.”
That doesn’t mean that Alisson didn’t have some critiques to level at the performances we saw, though.
“[Leeds] made our night difficult tonight but I think their night was even more difficult because of the way we played.”
“I’m happy to have Mo Salah on the team and that he scored a hat-trick in the first official match of the season,” Alisson added. “I’m really happy for the three points also. It’s something that is inside of us. Obviously we work every day really, really hard to arrive at the ground and do our best.”
“Sometimes you work in some way and the opponents adapt between the game and we have to adapt also.
“It was just the first match of the season and I believe we have many things to improve but those things will come with the games.”
Liverpool will hopefully make the necessary adaptations before they take on Chelsea next weekend.
