Rumour Mongering: Leeds, Newcastle, and Southampton Show Harry Wilson Interest
Liverpool have set a £20M price for the 23-year-old winger and he is expected to be sold this summer.
Liverpool are determined not to send Harry Wilson out on loan for another season and to instead to find a permanent home for the now 23-year-old Welsh international who has so far missed pre-season due to injury.
Being in the midst of an ongoing pandemic that has left many clubs nervous about the future and their finances could make that difficult, but today The Liverpool Echo say that at least three Premier League sides have shown interest.
Newcastle United and Southampton are both said to have contacted the Reds about Wilson, as have newly promoted Leeds United—though a £20M asking price might end up too steep even with three English clubs interested.
If it is, Liverpool are said to see no value in loaning Wilson out for experience yet again—and the same goes for 24-year-old Marko Grujic—and the alternative to a sale would be for the player to remain at Anfield.
Wilson’s prior loans have shown promise—and an ability to consistently outperform expected goals from distance—but also a player who will need to take a step if he wants a regular role for a side at the top end of the table.
