Liverpool Confirm Final Pre-Season Friendly Against Blackpool
A limited squad of Liverpool’s non-European stars along with some fringe players will face Blackpool on Saturday.
Liverpool have today confirmed a final pre-season friendly, set to take place on Saturday afternoon against League One side Blackpool and former U23 manager Neil Critchley.
The match will give Jürgen Klopp a final chance to run the rule over some of his youth and fringe players before the Premier League season kicks off a week later against Leeds United.
The game will be available on LFCTV for subscribers worldwide as well as being carried by select traditional broadcaster, with a kickoff set for 3PM BST on Saturday, September 5th.
The focus, though, will very much be on the fringe and youth, as many of Liverpool’s stars—from Virgil van Dijk to Andy Robertson to Gini Wijnaldum to Joe Gomez to Kostas Tsimikas to Trent Alexander-Arnold—have been called up to their national team.
Also absent will be Neco Williams, Rhian Brewster, Harry Wilson, and Ben Woodburn.
However, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones have not been called up for the England U21 set-up, and Liverpool’s non-European internationals—the club’s Brazilian and African players along with Japan international Takumi Minamino—will be available for selection.
