Wrighty: “I Feel Bad for Klopp”
The pundit has chimed in on the early kick-off situation.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has sympathy for Liverpool FC manager Jürgen Klopp regarding early kick-offs after the international break.
The Redmen have been handed early kick-offs after all four international breaks in 2023, and the clash with City will be the 14th early kick-off match that Liverpool have been involved in after the international break since Jurgen Klopp took over in 2015, including nine away from home. The closest team is Tottenham, with six matches, which is just a staggering difference. Klopp has been outspoken that players need more time to rest and recuperate after representing their national teams.
On the Kelly and Wrighty show, Ian Wright chimed in with his opinion on the timing of the early timing:
“I feel sorry for [Jürgen Klopp]. A game of that magnitude and how good it is, I’d have loved for that to be in the evening.”
When Kelly Cates chimed in that it could still be a cracking game, he said:
“I hope so. I know I’m not doing great advertising for the Premier League at the minute!”
Now, the game was supposedly moved up to 12.30 pm due to safety concerns cited by the police in Manchester. Still, it seems poor that the showcase fixture for the Premier League for the past half-decade will have to be bogged down by additional fatigue and sluggishness.
