Good news, and hopefully he won’t be out for long.

Alexis Mac Allister looked to have suffered an injury as Liverpool FC battled Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in a physical contest that referee Simon Hooper allowed to descend into a free-for-all.

Just three minutes into the game, Mac Allister went down from a heavy challenge by William Osula, immediately showing discomfort over his left knee. Playing on with heavy strapping over his knee, Alexis was forced off at the 60th-minute mark of the game after being off the receiving end of another knock five minutes earlier. Curtis Jones came off the bench to replace him.

Alexis was spotted icing his knee on the bench as the game went on, but in a sign of good news, was all smiles at the final whistle.

After the game, manager Jürgen Klopp provided an update on our number 10:

“Macca, a shame early he got a cut, and as long as the wound was open, we just strapped it.

“It was painful, but he could play. We stitched it, and then it got a bit tighter there, and he couldn’t move anymore.

“We have to see how long that will take. I hope not too long.”

Next up, a trip to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace at our favourite 12.30 pm kick-off.
