Liverpool have been linked to the West Ham winger. Mo Kudus, running down the wing?

When looking at Liverpool attacking options, the Reds are blessed with an embarrassment of riches, but in each case, every attacking option has questions lingering over them.

Mohamed Salah, despite his already legendary status and incredible accomplishments at the club, has a few questions lingering over his head. The Egyptian King will turn 32 years old in a couple of weeks, and even if age isn’t catching up to him, his contract only has one year remaining on it. Whether we like it or not, we need a Mo Salah “replacement,” insofar as any talent as big as Mo’s can be replaced.

According to the rumor mongers, West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus could be one of the possible replacements.

Besides having (roughly) the same name, playing in the same position, being left-footed, and African, Kudus is also of the right age profile that Liverpool typical look for in new attackers. Kudus is 23, and has already made the step up from the Eredivisie, contributing 14 goals and assists in just under 2500 minutes for Wet Hams, or a goal or assist every 177.7 minutes.

Those are hardly elite numbers, but if his underlying stats are good enough, he might be worth a punt by the laptop gurus. However, the alleged £85m release clause should give Liverpool some pause.

As Liverpool enter a post-Klopp era, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that Arne Slot might want to bring a new attacker or two in (and move one or two out) to better fit his preferred style of play. Is Kudus one of those options? Although Slot will be familiar with him from Kudus’s days at Ajax, this one should still be taken with a grain of salt.
