Bournemouth left back Milos Kerkez has been regularly linked with the Reds this season and there are claims the club are now pushing to close a deal quickly.

Arne Slot’s first season at Liverpool has shown while the manager has a preferred set of starters good enough to challenge across multiple competitions, and while he has some depth options most would be envious of, he doesn’t always trust them.

That could mean a busier than expected the summer, with the club needing to find replacements for the likes of Wataru Endo and Harvey Elliott in addition to strengthening positions that many suspected were always in line for change—including left back.

There, Andy Robertson at times still looks one of the best fullbacks in the game. But that hasn’t been a consistent thing, the 31-year-old at times seeming as though he perhaps can’t be expected to put in the kind of running he used to twice a week every week.

Meanwhile, Kostas Tsimikas while game when given the chance hasn’t made a case that he can take on a larger share of the workload. As a result, going back into the autumn the Reds have been linked with left backs. And Milos Kerkez more than any other.

The 21-year-old Bournemouth and Hungary left back has the engine Robertson used to be known for and a solid crossing game—though many have pointed out he’s played his career so far as a fullback who mostly stays outside and hugs the touchline.

Liverpool under Slot on the other hand often look to have their fullbacks move inside and help with buildup. Still, if that isn’t seen as a dealbreaker, there are few more physically talented young fullbacks out there, and Kerkez has Premier League experience.

And according to iNews in a claimed exclusive, at least, it’s not a dealbreaker and the Reds have locked in on Kerkez as top option and are pushing to get a deal wrapped early to beat out potential competition to the player and get him in early this summer.

According to the report, it would take £40M to get Bournemouth to sell Kerkez, and Liverpool’s shortlist for the position had included Bayern’s Alphonso Davies and PSG’s Nuno Mendes, both of whom recently signed new deals leaving only Kerkez as an option.
