Lloyd Jones Set For Luton Town Loan

Another fringe player, another loan.

Another loan deal out for another one of Liverpool’s unwashed and unloved fringe players. Youth defender Lloyd Jones is reportedly set for a loan to League Two side Luton Town, following an impending and obligatory medical, according to Sky Sports.

Jones joined Liverpool from Plymouth Argyle for a whopping £150,000 in 2011. This will be his fifth loan deal since 2015. The 22-year-old center defender has also endured loan spells to Cheltenham Town, Accrington Stanley, Blackpool, and Swindon Town.

The defender has yet to make a single senior appearance for Liverpool, and given his motley crew of loan destinations (Luton Town now very much included), it’s hard to see a future for this youth player (who, at 22, has just about lost a right to still be called a yute).

This seems to be Jone’s level (or there abouts). Still, for a League Two team, he could make a worse choice: Luton Town are currently set for promotion to England’s third tier, in first place, eight points ahead of chasers, Wycombe Wanderers.

Hopefully the loan proves to be a successful one, and Jones can find a forever home.
