Sunderland Confirm Intent to Sign Liverpool Starlet

Ovie Ejaria will join Sunderland on loan according to Black Cats’ manager Chris Coleman.

So far, deadline day for Liverpool is shaping up to be a whole lot of not much, with a handful of outgoings being lined up and a chance to watch as the club’s rivals for the top four bring in their own reinforcements.

That looks set to continue with Ovie Ejaria’s pending loan to Championship relegation battlers Sunderland, with their manager openly talking about their plan to bring in Ejaria to replace the outgoing Didier Ndong.

“Ndong has gone to Watford,” noted Black Cats manager Chris Coleman. “We’ll be bringing one in to replace him, a boy from Liverpool, Ovie Ejaria. He’s coming to us until the end of the season, which I’m very excited about.”

Ejaria looked on the verge of breaking into Liverpool’s first team last season as at least a fringe first team player—a player ready to start in the domestic cups and make the bench in the league—before injury set him back.

He’s spent the current season so far getting back up to speed with the U23s and now needs minutes. Sunderland, in the thick of a Championship relegation battle and in need of reinforcements, should offer him that.
