Karius: “Everyone is very frustrated. We wanted to get the win”

Despite a strong performance by the German, which included a penalty save, Liverpool were held to a late 2-2 draw at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

Karius gave some insight to how the team are feeling right now.

“Everyone is very frustrated, and wanted to get the win. When you score last minute, it’s difficult to describe how you don’t get the win.

“It’s difficult to say (if could have done better for first goal), so many bodies around.“

Karius gave some insight into what was going through his head for the first goal.

“I reacted pretty late and made the decision to get it away, still got good distance on it and we didn’t get the block on the shot. I don’t think it’s a goalkeeper mistake. It was a wonder strike.”

The German also gave his thoughts on the two penalty decisions, and what he was thinking.

”For the first pen, I thought Dejan was getting to the ball. If I stay and drop it’s a tap in. I haven’t seen it back.

“You have to gamble with the pen. I had a feeling that in big games Kane goes to the middle. Unfortunately, the second one he didn’t show any nerves!”

Liverpool travel to St Mary’s exactly a week today, as they play Southampton with a 4:30pm kickoff time.
