Liverpool hope to dish out a bit of revenge when Spurs come to visit.

Liverpool’s painful meltdown at Wembley was inarguably the lowest point in their season. Unlike when they lost heavily to Manchester City, they didn’t have an unfortunate red card to blame their misfortunes on. It was all down to some very uninspired performances up front and an absolute shambles at the back that resulted in Klopp removing Dejan Lovren from the game before halftime.
That was back in October and served a real kick up the backside to a Liverpool team that had been flagging. That loss was the last one Reds’ fans would have to endure until the end of January. Credit where it’s due, Klopp and the players rallied themselves and pulled their season back on track.
Now they sit in third place with two points between them and the Spurs. Win on Sunday and begin to solidify their place in the top four, or lose and slide down to fifth. It’s a big game this late in the season with a lot riding on it. Klopp has called it a six-pointer, and he’s not wrong. Spurs will come to Anfield still on a high after embarrassing Manchester United midweek.
Hopefully Virgil van Dijk will have more luck containing the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son than Lovren did at Wembley in the fall. On the flip side, our usually potent attack was nowhere to be found the last time we played them, with only Mo Salah finding the back of the net. Let’s hope they can do better with Anfield at their backs.

Surprisingly, it’s the first week of February but team fitness isn’t much of an issue for either squad going into this game. Only Nathaniel Clyne is definitely out for Liverpool. Adam Lallana is probably not yet match fit after missing the last two games. Otherwise, Klopp has a full house to choose from.
It’s possible we see Alberto Moreno at left-back, as well as either Gini Wijnaldum or James Milner starting in the midfield.
For Spurs, it’s probably still too early to expect new signing Lucas Moura to make his debut after signing on deadline day from PSG. Serge Aurier will return to the side in defense, while only Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose are doubts for Pochettino.
