Real Madrid linked with Liverpool target Alisson Becker

Reports originating from Spain claim that Real Madrid will challenge Liverpool for the signature of Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker in the summer.

Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp is in the market for a goalkeeper with Simon Mignolet’s agent already looking for a new club for his client. Mignolet, who has now been deemed the club’s No.2, was the subject of interest from a couple of clubs during the January transfer window. However, sources close to the player suggest he’s in no rush to leave as he will probably have to take a substantial pay cut if he was to join a smaller club.

Loris Karius has been given until the summer to prove he can be trusted as the club’s No.1 but we believe Klopp is looking for a Big Gun to play in goal next season. A number of names are under consideration but at the present time, we understand that Liverpool are currently investigating whether or not Alisson could be recruited.

The Reds were linked with a January bid but Roma sporting director Monchi inists no bids were forthcoming.

“Did any offers come in for Alisson? No,” said Monchi. “It’s too early to talk about the next transfer window, it’s not very useful talking today, February 1st, about who will stay or go.

“Let’s start talking about play, technique, tactics… that would be more useful for everyone.”

The early indications are that Alisson is happy where he is but if he was up for a move to Anfield, it could still prove a tricky deal to negotiate.

It was mooted last month that Liverpool would need to offer around £44million for Alisson but if Real Madrid’s interest proves to be genuine, you could expect that valuation to rise even higher.

Atlético Madrid’s Jan Oblak (25) is another ‘keeper who has been heavily linked but we’d also suggest you keep an eye on Real Madrid’s Keylor Navas (31). He was heavily linked with us a couple of years ago and there’s been chatter that Klopp tried to bring him to Anfield last year. He could be on the move in the summer with Real Madrid actively looking for a new ‘keeper.
