Sadio Mané Hopes To Put Difficult Weeks Behind Him

The winger is looking forward to Liverpool hosting Spurs on Sunday.

Compared to last season’s debut stunner, winger Sadio Mané has had a comparatively slow campaign. He’s scored nine goals — and granted, some of them were real stunners — for Liverpool so far. His season, which has been disrupted by a three-match ban as well as injury, has also seen some ebbing, where he has not looked very effective on the pitch.

Looking ahead to Liverpool’s crucial match against Tottenham on Sunday, the player himself acknowledged his recent rough patch.

“There have been some difficult weeks for me. It is part of football,” he said. “All I can do is do my best, score goals, give assists and do my best for my team. We still have many games to play. It is too early to speak about how many goals I will get this season.”

After being sent off against Manchester City and subsequently costing Liverpool a heavy defeat, Mané bounced back and gave a fantastic performance against the league leaders when they came to Anfield last month. With luck, we’ll see another stellar Mané performance against Spurs as well.

On the team’s chances of beating their top four rivals, Mané is positive.

“We can beat any team in the league, even in the world. It will be a tough game, but it is possible to win,” he continued.

“It is too early to talk about winning any titles, but our aim is to try and win every single game until the end of the season – why not? The team spirit is great, we are all happy to be playing alongside each other. There have been some difficult years here, but that happens to every single club in the world. We are in a good way now, so everything is possible.”

Liverpool have had good luck against Spurs at Anfield in recent seasons.

A loss will see them knocked out of the top four — which is a dangerous place for the club to be all the way in February.
