Rumour Mongering: Reds Eye Shock Move for Tottenham’s Son Heung-min

Manchester United are also said to be considering a move for the Spurs attacker.

According to the rumour mongers, Liverpool are considering an audacious attempt to sign Son Heung-min away from Tottenham. So. You can probably go and file this one under not gonna happen. Still, it’s an entertaining rumour to contemplate for the obvious reasons.

First and foremost being that Liverpool really do need quality options for their forward line beyond Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané, and if the club were theoretically able to bring Son Heung-min in it’s difficult to imagine a better player who would be better suited.

Plus it’d hurt Spurs and enrage their fans, which has to be worth something. And hey, according to German broadcaster Sport1 at least, both Liverpool and Manchester United are considering trying to get Tottenham to sell the 25-year-old Korean international.

The only slight reason to give the rumour any credence would be that Son came up in Germany with Hamburg SV before moving to Bayer Leverkusen and then Spurs, which makes a German report concerning him just about believable if you squint at it.

Plus Spurs have shown that they’re willing to sell to a domestic rival—see Kyle Walker heading north to Manchester City. Still, we’d recommend avoiding getting excited by the possibility and just enjoy any annoyance this rumour even existing causes Spurs fans.
