Divock Origi is Valencia’s Second-Choice Striker Target

The La Liga side are interested, but only if they can’t bring in Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi.

Divock Origi is a Valencia transfer target, but his being left out of the squad for Wednesday night’s pre-season friendly against Manchester City likely doesn’t mean he’s on the verge of being sold to the La Liga side.

That’s because, according to Valencia’s Superdeporte, while the Spanish side like Origi and meetings have been held between the club and his agent, he’s not their first choice target. Instead, it’s Michy Batshuayi.

The Chelsea man had an impressive loan spell with Dortmund last season and would cost more than Origi, but with Liverpool asking for a £27M for him, the Liverpool man hardly looks like a bargain option.

Batshuayi is also more in demand, and so if Valencia cannot tempt him with the promise of Champions League football, they will reportedly move on either Origi or Everton’s Sandro Ramírez, with Origi favoured.

Superdeporte further suggest Valencia’s preference in all this would be to bring a striker in on loan, though as Origi has just one year left on his Liverpool deal it seems inconceivable the Reds would agree to that.
