Lallana: ‘This year we are going for the title’

Liverpool are in a ‘good place’ and are ready to mount a serious title challenge this season, according to Adam Lallana.
The Reds boast a top-drawer spine after adding the likes of Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Naby Keita to their ranks this summer.
Liverpool’s 3-1 Champions League defeat against Real Madrid was their third final loss under Jurgen Klopp, but a confident Lallana believes they can banish memories of previous heartache by winning their first Premier League title this season.
“We’ve got to finals and this year we are going for the title,” Lallana told AnfieldHQ at a club event in New York City.
Asked about Liverpool’s ongoing pre-season preparations, the Englishman replied: “We are in a good place at the minute. We’ve got quite a few to come back. This is a good opportunity for the young lads.
“It’s tough but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It needs to be tough – we are going into games in pre-season already fatigued due to training, but that’s what these games are for. The boss’ style is heavy metal but it’s really enjoyable!”

Defender Ragnar Klavan concurred, admitting he takes pride in Liverpool’s unique and renowned style of play.
“In training, we do a lot – it’s good for everybody to get the main idea of what we are trying to do,” the Estonian said.
“Playing for Jurgen is heavy-metal – it’s really nice to watch even if you’re not an LFC fan. It’s nice to see – if training like we do was easy everybody would do it!”
Fan favourite John Arne Riise also attended the event and expressed his belief that his former side can dethrone Manchester City this season.
“Liverpool are looking good,” he said. “City will be the team to beat this season but we are definitely stronger. I’m excited. This is a good time to be an LFC fan at the moment.”
