Critchley never doubted Brewster would sign new LFC contract
Liverpool Under-23 boss Neil Critchley says he was never concerned that highly-promising youngster Rhian Brewster would leave the club amid interest from Germany.
Brewster announced himself as a star of the future by winning the Golden Boot at the Under-17 World Cup in 2017.
His future at Anfield was uncertain, though, with Borussia Monchengladbach and RB Leipzig both keen on a move.
Ultimately, Brewster chose to commit to the Reds by penning a new contract in July.
Critchley insists the 18-year-old’s passion for the club meant there was little chance of him jumping ship.
“I was delighted,” he said. “I always thought he would sign. I never thought there would be any danger of him leaving.

“I know how much he loves being at Liverpool. I know what the people and the club mean to him.
“I’m absolutely delighted that he’s decided to stay and sees his future at the football club.”
Brewster will be promoted to the first-team set-up when he recovers from an ankle injury he sustained in January.
Critchley admits the Englishman will be ‘hugely frustrated’ as he is forced to watch from sidelines but says he will still be brimming with desire.
“He’s got his injury issue at the moment but I’m sure he’ll be doing a few people’s heads down at Melwood, chomping at the bit and ready to return,” he joked.
“He’ll be quite restless. He’s a young boy who loves playing football and wants to play football. He’ll be hugely frustrated at the moment. [But] it [the contract] was a real pick-me-up for him and for us.”
