Liverpool provide positive update on Naby Keita injury

Liverpool have provided a positive injury update on the fitness of midfielder Naby Keita.

According to Sky Sports, the Reds confirmed that the Guinean international is ‘fine’ after undergoing tests at a local hospital in Naples.

Keita went down in the first 20 minutes of Liverpool’s Champions League tie with Napoli last night and was taken off the pitch on a motorised physio buggy.

Following the disappointing loss, Liverpool provided the following update:

“Keita was transferred to a local hospital with the club doctor, where – with the midfielder’s agreement – he underwent a number of precautionary health checks to assess his condition.”

It was also confirmed that Keita was assessed for back injury and returned to Liverpool on schedule; the club have subsequently not ruled him out for Sunday’s crucial clash with Manchester City.

Despite losses in the Carabao Cup and the Champions League, Liverpool are still unbeaten in the Premier League and are level on points with City.
