Thoughts Are With Leicester City As Details Around Accident Are Still Emerging

Words of support pour in from Liverpool FC and other clubs as information comes in surrounding shock helicopter crash.

As of this time, Liverpool Football Club have yet to issue an official club statement about what is increasingly feared to be a tragic helicopter accident near King Power Stadium following Leicester City’s match against West Ham United yesterday. However, the club - alongside numerous other clubs in English and world football - have offered words of support on social media as details are still emerging.

What is presently known is that owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s helicopter appeared to lose control shortly after taking off from the stadium, not long after the match. The helicopter appeared to have crashed in a car park nearby, and footage of a burning wreck was widely captured by horrified onlookers and news teams in the vicinity.

While formal confirmation regarding the fate of the passengers and crew has not yet materialized, it is believed that the owner was one of those onboard at the time. Stunned supporters have been silently gathering at the stadium, with some laying tributes of flowers and scarves.

Leicester City issued a brief preliminary statement noting the club’s cooperation with Leicestershire Police and emergency services, but have not yet said anything further regarding what appears to be a truly sad development on an already sad and tragic weekend.
