Liverpool third-choice stopper Vítězslav Jaroš is rumoured to be in line for a new contract, suggesting he may be set to move up the depth chart next season.

Liverpool’s goalkeeping situation is likely to become a little confusing this offseason, mostly due to having too many of them with starter Alisson Becker widely hailed as one of the best in the world and rising star Giorgi Mamardashvili set to arrive from Valencia.

Add in standout second choice Caoimhin Kelleher—arguably good enough to start for at least half the clubs in the Premier League—and highly regarded third-choice Vítězslav Jaroš and it’s hard to see the summer ending without a couple of outgoing moves.

The latest on Liverpool’s goalkeeping situation regards 23-year-old Jaroš, who has at least one more year on his current Liverpool deal signed before he headed to Sturm Graz in January of 2024 and who The Liverpool Echo believe is set for a new contract.

For the player to accept a new deal, one would imagine there must be a pathway to becoming second choice for the Reds next season should Kelleher manage to navigate away from the club in search of a starting role that seems unlikely should he stay.

As for Mamardashvili’s arrival with Alisson still looking undroppable, it could be the season-long loan in England he was meant to get this season before Valencia pushed to keep him on loan after Liverpool purchased him last summer could belatedly happen.

Last summer, most expected Mamardashvili to head to Bournemouth for at least a season before Liverpool had to figure out how to fit him in. That could still happen now, just a year removed, with Kelleher moving on and Jaroš slotting in as the new number two.
